Alexander Adia

PhD Candidate

Alexander Adia is a Health Policy PhD student (Population and Data Science track) interested in topics of health equity, specifically focusing on racial and ethnic health disparities and aging and the social safety net programs aimed at ameliorating such challenges. Prior to graduate school, Alexander was a Senior Consultant at Precision Advisors working on pricing and market access challenges for life sciences firms and is a member of the board of directors for the Filipinx/a/o Community Health Association. Alexander received a bachelor's degree and MPH from Brown University.

Alex Schulte

Alex Schulte

PhD Candidate

Alex is a Health Policy PhD candidate in the Organizations and Management track. She is interested in applying quantitative methodologies to better understand how organizational, market, and policy changes impact reproductive healthcare access and quality. Prior to starting her PhD, Alex worked as a healthcare consultant at Deloitte and later as a program officer at the Deloitte Health Equity Institute. She has bachelors degrees in Economics and Health Policy & Management from UNC Chapel Hill. 

Ashley Liang

Ashley Liang

Undergraduate Student

Ashley Liang is a current undergraduate student majoring in Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley. Previously, Ashley worked with the National Academy of Medicine’s Leadership Consortium and Medicaid Health Plans of America. She is currently mentored by faculty at UCSF’s Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies and UC Berkeley’s Center for Health Management and Policy Research. Ashley is committed to public service and interdisciplinary research to improve health.
Cindy Alvarez

Cindy Alvarez, MPH

PhD Student

Cindy Alvarez is a Health Policy Ph.D. student at UC Berkeley with a focus on Organizations and Management. Her research interests include primary care, Medicaid policy, and health workforce issues. Prior to graduate school, Cindy was a researcher at Mathematica, working on projects related to primary care, health equity, and public health interventions. Cindy received a bachelor’s degree and MPH from Yale University.

Ishika Sachdeva

Ishika Sachdeva

PhD Student

Ishika Sachdeva is a first year Health Policy PhD student with CHAMP and a UC Berkeley Public Health (B.A.) graduate. She is passionate about improving population health outcomes and increasing access to healthcare through health services research and policy evaluation. At CHAMP, Ishika contributes to quantitative and qualitative analyses to evaluate initiatives, including Contra Costa County's Community Connect, A3, and Enhanced Care Management programs. Previously, she researched naturalistic MDMA use at the School of Public Health and analyzed healthcare service utilization trends in the Population Health department at Alameda Health System. Ishika is from Southern California and is an avid learner, traveler, and foodie.

Linden Lovett

Linden Lovett

MPH Student

Linden Lovett is a first-year MPH candidate in the Health Policy and Management concentration. She is originally from Nevada City, CA and graduated with her BA in Public Health from UC Berkeley in 2025. Linden has worked with several nonprofit healthcare organizations in rural Northern California, where she focused on adolescent health education, advocacy, and administrative operations. She currently serves as a Graduate Student Researcher at the Center for Health Management and Policy Research, contributing to projects on healthcare system mergers and acquisitions, language access in California primary care settings, lean management in health systems, and evaluations of insurance quality initiatives. Outside of her academic and research work, Linden enjoys traveling, practicing pilates, and spending time with her family in the mountains! 

Sophia Moreno

Sophia Moreno

MPH Student

Sophia Moreno is a second‑year Master of Public Health student in Health Policy and Management at UC Berkeley and a UC Berkeley Public Health (B.A.) graduate. Previously, she served as a Research Associate at KFF, where she supported the annual 50‑State Medicaid Eligibility and Enrollment Survey and led analyses on renewal outcomes during the Unwinding. She also worked at the California Department of Finance, reviewing statewide health program proposals and conducting pharmacy expenditure analysis. Her policy interests center on immigration, Medicaid, pharmaceutical pricing, and state‑level health finance, with a focus on how state systems shape access, coverage, and opportunity for immigrant communities. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, teaching, and exploring new food spots across the Bay Area.

Stacy Chen

Stacy Chen, MPH

PhD Candidate

Stacy Chen is a Health Policy Ph.D. student at UC Berkeley in the Organizations and Management track. Her research interests include patient access to safety-net providers and government health programs, specifically among immigrants and low-income individuals. Prior to graduate school, Stacy was a senior healthcare economist at the MITRE Corp supporting government-funded research and development projects such as income mobility in Census and optimizing virtual care for federally-qualified health centers in HRSA. Stacy received an MPH and BA in economics from Tufts University.

Victoria Deng

Victoria Deng

Undergraduate Student

Victoria Deng is an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley studying Molecular Environmental Biology. She is passionate about language access, health equity, and improving healthcare delivery for immigrant communities. At CHAMP, she serves as a Research Assistant for the Language Access Project, where she utilizes qualitative data analysis to characterize language access infrastructure in California safety-net practices. Beyond her research, Victoria is a Labor Coach at Asian Health Services, providing Mandarin and Cantonese translation and advocacy for mothers with limited English proficiency during pregnancy and labor. Originally from Bay Area, she enjoys hiking, gardening, and reading in her free time.
